This Privacy Policy describes how Hotels from Home ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our mobile application ("App").
1. Information We Collect
Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and password. Passwords are handled securely through Firebase Authentication and are never stored in plain text.
Event Data: When you create or participate in events, we store information such as event names, dates, menus, entertainment selections, activities, guest lists, and RSVP responses.
Push Notification Tokens: If you enable push notifications, we store your device's push notification token to send you relevant notifications about your events.
Usage Data: We may collect anonymous usage data to improve the App experience, including crash reports and performance metrics.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to: provide, maintain, and improve the App; create and manage your account; enable event creation, sharing, and guest participation; send push notifications about event updates and guest activity; and respond to your requests and provide support.
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share your information in the following circumstances:
With Event Hosts/Guests: When you RSVP to an event, the host can see your name, dietary requirements, and RSVP status. When you host an event, guests can see event details you've created.
Service Providers: We use Firebase (Google) for authentication, database, and cloud functions. Your data is processed in accordance with Google's privacy policies.
Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights.
4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely using Google Firebase infrastructure. We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information, including encrypted connections, server-side validation, and access controls through Firebase Security Rules.
5. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active. Event data is retained until the event is deleted by the host. You may delete your account and all associated data at any time through the Profile screen in the App.
6. Your Rights
You have the right to: access and review your personal data within the App; update your account information; delete your account and all associated data; and opt out of push notifications through your device settings.
7. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us.
8. Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party services: Firebase Authentication for user account management; Cloud Firestore for data storage; Firebase Cloud Functions for server-side processing; and Expo Push Notifications for delivering push notifications.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy within the App. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
